Digital disruption, automation, hybrid workforce, modern workplace, industry 4.0 were just the fads until last year when the businesses were forced to move their operations from the office to their employees’ homes. This was the time when organisations realised the importance of having business applications hosted in the cloud as it was easy for their employees to access these from any device and location with minimal security concerns.
Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is fully hosted in the cloud and hence, gives businesses an edge when it comes to maintaining the accounting operations from any geographic location. Furthermore, the updates are managed and rolled out by Microsft. On the other side, Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains) was designed as an on-premise solution. The updates for this are not automatic and need to be scheduled with Microsoft manually. Business Central offers an element of scalability as it is hosted in the cloud and its Essential version (the most basic one) is equipped with more features when compared to the starter pack of Dynamics GP.
